TTarah Jackson: "The Unexpected Beauties Of the Rez" They say that there is beauty everywhere. . . . why not Inter? or perhaps the rest of the rez? And the beauty is after all in the eye of the beholder. So who else to exploit the beauty than the pictures themselves. bio -- I am from the small community of Inger, which is in Minnesota, if you just look carefully on the map. I come from a long line of strong women, all of whom helped in raising me. They supported me throughout all of my life so far, but I have a long way to go before its all over. With all that I need to say within my artwork, I am hoping that they will be there for me. Just recently, I have affected someone's life just by her looking at my photo with the childs eyes within the sun since it signified that the children are always watching she realized that she'd better quit drinking. I figure, If I can touch just one more person by the end of the month I'll be happy, and then start a new series or perhaps I'll just add on to this one. Either way, I'll be happy doing what I love making beautiful, meaningful art that is full of love, sweat, tears, and soul. Although there are hidden meanings within my work, I hope you find them beautiful as well. I have been working with Kris for three years. The first year I was quite shy, and had no idea what I was getting myself into. Now, I can't stop. Because of the program I have awakened a passion within, that has always been there yet I never knew that it was there. Because of this passion, I have sold some of my artwork to people that my relatives knew, and a couple of newspapers. Not only am I beginning to realize what I am capable of, I am now thinking of expanding my horizons, by going to Santa Fes American Indian Art Institute (AIAI), where I hope to pick up a few things through their photography program. s text goes here |
